SOURCES, VERSIONS & WHAT CHANGED
2024 county insurance: source and preparation record
The first ACD county health insurance edition prepares Census SAHIE estimates for service-area research, with a county summary and separate demographic detail.
Source edition and ACD preparation
The estimates describe 2024. Census released them August 6, 2026; the CSV records a June 23 creation date. ACD captured the source October 17 and prepared this initial product separately. There is no earlier ACD edition or historical change comparison claimed here.
What the preparation adds
County FIPS codes retain their leading zeros. Age, sex and income codes receive readable labels. The summary selects under 65, both sexes, all races and all income levels; the detailed table retains all 114 county demographic combinations. Values keep their published 90% margins of error and explicit statuses. Original cells, exact raw bytes, lossless staging and preparation recipes are retained for reprocessing.
Coverage and source accounting
The national file has 402,786 records. The product retains all 358,416 county records; 44,370 state records are explicitly excluded and accounted for. There are 3,144 county identifiers, including Kalawao County, Hawaii, whose estimates Census directs users to treat as missing. This leaves 3,143 usable summary estimates. Connecticut uses nine planning regions; Puerto Rico and other territories are absent.
County identifiers match the 50-state/DC subset of our 2024 ACS geography. That does not make annual SAHIE estimates interchangeable with ACS five-year measures or establish a hospital-to-county mapping.
Interpretation and checks
Age and income categories overlap; choose a group before joining or summing. Within-income percentages differ from percentages using the all-income denominator. Source missing values are not zeros, and zero MOEs do not mean certainty. Independent acceptance compares every delivered source-derived field and every source-row outcome with the original file; offline replay reproduces the release.
Purchase and future versions
This fixed edition costs $29. Processing improvements on these retained inputs are included for buyers. A new Census edition may be sold separately after purchaser-entitlement review; no subscription or scheduled refresh is included.
